For the existing Riemann gamma factor

γ(s)=s(s−1)2π−s/2Γ(s/2),\gamma(s)=\frac{s(s-1)}2\pi^{-s/2}\Gamma(s/2),γ(s)=2s(s−1)π−s/2Γ(s/2),

define the relative error after retaining the leading linear term by

E(s,z)=γ(z)γ(s)exp⁡ ⁣(12Log⁡(s2π)(z−s))−1.E(s,z)=\frac{\gamma(z)} {\gamma(s)\exp\!\left(\frac12\operatorname{Log} \left(\frac{s}{2\pi}\right)(z-s)\right)}-1.E(s,z)=γ(s)exp(21Log(2πs)(z−s))γ(z)−1.

For real t<0t<0t<0, a positive integer NNN, and a point sss of height y=Im⁡sy=\operatorname{Im}sy=Ims, put

T=∣t∣,r(y)=y2/3,zt,N,s(u)=s+Tlog⁡N2+iu.T=|t|,\qquad r(y)=y^{2/3},\qquad z_{t,N,s}(u)=s+\frac{T\log N}{2}+iu.T=∣t∣,r(y)=y2/3,zt,N,s(u)=s+2TlogN+iu.

The central Gaussian–Mellin contribution is

Bt,Ncen(s)=1πT∫−r(y)r(y)γ(zt,N,s(u))exp⁡ ⁣((Jt(s)−zt,N,s(u))2T−zt,N,s(u)log⁡N) du.B^{\mathrm{cen}}_{t,N}(s)= \frac1{\sqrt{\pi T}}\int_{-r(y)}^{r(y)} \gamma(z_{t,N,s}(u)) \exp\!\left(\frac{(J_t(s)-z_{t,N,s}(u))^2}{T} -z_{t,N,s}(u)\log N\right)\,du.Bt,Ncen(s)=πT1∫−r(y)r(y)γ(zt,N,s(u))exp(T(Jt(s)−zt,N,s(u))2−zt,N,s(u)logN)du.

Here Jt(s)=s+(T/4)Log⁡(s/(2π))J_t(s)=s+(T/4)\operatorname{Log}(s/(2\pi))Jt(s)=s+(T/4)Log(s/(2π)) is the existing definition. The logarithm of a complex number is the principal logarithm. The segment is oriented upward; its contour Jacobian is included by cancellation with the usual 1/i1/i1/i prefactor.

Formalization Note. These quantities are gammaLinearError, mellinWindow, mellinSaddlePoint, and centralMellinTerm. The natural-number index nnn represents N=n+1N=n+1N=n+1. The definitions are total; analytic theorems impose negative time and sufficiently large positive height. The center used here is the leading saddle s+Tlog⁡N/2s+T\log N/2s+TlogN/2, a fixed-index variant of the paper's corrected saddle s+log⁡N/(2A)s+\log N/(2A)s+logN/(2A) with A=1/T+1/(4s)A=1/T+1/(4s)A=1/T+1/(4s).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
